BART employees paid more (or equal to) nurses?!?!?!

Wait, this can't be right.

I just found out that a BART employee makes an average of 80K with benefits galore (http://www.bizjournals.com/sanfrancisco/blog/2013/07/are-bart-workers-taking-us-for-a-ride.html). Even a station agent or a train operator can make a base of 60k with up to 10k-20k overtime pay. That can't be right at all, is it? The amount of responsibilies have to be different. I could think of so many careers that should be paid more. Their salaries are comparable to most nurses in the entire country.

Any thoughts?

Report: Some San Francisco Muni officials made more than $100K in OT | abc7news.com

Check out this story about a SF MUNI mechanic who made more than $250,000 in one year.

Comparing what nurses make around the country with what BART makes in SF is a moot point. Nurses are not making 60-80K per year in the major hospitals and systems in the SF Area. And cost of living in SF is astronomical compared to the majority of the United States.
