Azusa Pacific University Programs

U.S.A. California

This may be a silly question, but does anyone know the difference between APU's EENAP program and SCAN program? On the website, they are both listed as "entry-level masters programs." I know the SCAN program has more units (98-102 compared to EENAP's 66). They both state that, upon completion, graduates are eligible for the California RN License and Public Health Nursing Certificate, and certification as Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) and/or a Nurse Practitioner (NP) in California.

I'm confused on which one to apply to! I have a B.S. degree, and I ultimately want to become a nurse practitioner. If there is anyone who can shed some light on this for me, I's appreciate it! Thanks!! :)

Hi-

The interview was super easy. Mine was on the phone. They just asked basically why I wanted to be a nurse. Good luck!

Hi-

I still am not sure if i am going to the scan program. i got accepted but am waiting to hear from a few other schools. For me, going directly into your MSN AND being a new nurse sounds like a lot. Not sure yet. Anyways, yes, I got all A's in my prereqs (sciences). I also have a MA degree from UCLA and my GPA was a 3.9. I did volunteer work as well. But don't worry, it doesn't seem super hard to get into. Good luck!

Thanks for the info Dixielou!:)

Does anyone know if Azusa will take Public Speaking course in lieu of their public communication pre-requisite? I'm trying to find a course at my school that fits the appropriate requirements...any help is greatly appreciated!

I had my interview with Azusa in March. It was so easy and they are so flexible with their requirements. They were not picky about speech or the chemistry requirements. They one negative part is that they have a LONG wait list. It is until fall of 2012!

They were super picky about my Chemistry requirement for the SCAN program. They are basically making me retake the same Chem course even though I already took it and got an A!

Wow, that is terrible!

Hi smallkitty00 (or anyone else that might know the answer),

I often find myself wondering how much the Christian association influences the instruction given at nursing schools. Can you shed any light for me on how 'Christian' Azusa Pacific is?

Thanks!

Hi, Smallkitty00:

Would you recommend this program to others? Do you like the instructors and the course set up?

Would you mind telling me what the schedule would be like? I got accepted to the program, but just wanted to know how many days per week do we have to be there, and how the everyday schedule.

Thank you!

I have a question for anyone that was admitted to the EENAP program.

I submitted my application in November, had my interview in late February, and have not heard anything back.

How long did it take for you to get a response?

I have tried calling and sending emails but I have not heard back from anyone. I am not sure what to expect and am looking for a little advise from someone who has experience with the program.

Thank you!

how was the interview like?

Hi there this is Renee from APU San Diego. Congratulations for being accepted into the program. For the first 4 weeks classes will probably be 8am - 5pm Monday through Saturday. After the first 4 weeks you will begin your hospital rotations and your schedule will depend on the group and hospital you have been assigned. Students are typically in class Mondays and Tuesdays and clinicals the rest fo the week. I hope this helps. Please feel free to contact me if you need additional information.
