aprehensive about relocating to LA

my bf is looking into a job opportunity at the LA (los angeles)FD. hes getting excited because it more in salary, pension, etc. but the COL is so high there compared to STL about 60% higher:eek:. i could look into travel nursing as an option. i need advice. how is la? how much can a peds rn with 4 years experience make? should i discourage him? i know he wants to leave STL, sometime i feel that way too:banghead:. i just dont know if this is the best option.need some advice. we are seriously involved..marriage is IN the future

LA is a very very big area, so when you say how is LA... I can only answer regarding west LA (santa monica area). Yes the cost of living is considerably higher than in other cities, but it is safe, lots to do, lots of young people around, beaches, etc. What areas of LA is he/you looking to relocate to? There are many areas where you could work as a peds RN (UCLA's mattel's childrens hospital, Cedar Sinai, LA Children's, etc) All are great hospitals....

I agree that Los Angeles is huge. There are 88 different independent cities within the city limits of LA, all with drastically differing COLs (costs of living). For example, living in Maywood is much cheaper than living in Sherman Oaks. However, the former is far less desirable than the latter.
