Affordable Health Insurance?

U.S.A. California

Hi All,

I'll be entering a full time RN program this fall.. I'll have to possibly leave my job in order to make this happen and focus. For that reason I'll lose my health insurance.. I was wondering..does anybody know of any affordable but good plans out there to suggest? What did you do/are you doing? Did you go through your program without insurance? Where did you get your insurance from if you had any (if not working and not on parents' or spouses' plan..)

Thank you!

Hey there, I am in the same boat as you. I quit work in january to focus on my last pre-reqs and will be starting an RN program soon. I ended up just purchasing my own insurance. I had no idea really what I should get and what was good so i used ehealthinsurance which was actually really helpful and they made it really easy and gave things that were in my budget that were good quality coverage plans for my needs. I have blue sheild right now and its about $100 a month, which isnt too bad, and if you're getting student loans then the $100 is worth it for security. My plan covers generic presciptions and my deductable is $2500 I think. But i would defintaley suggest going through ehealthinsurance becuase i spent 4 months being uninsured :-( which was stupid and then i finally just called them and they explained everything to me, and ill tell ya i didnt even know what a deductable was!!
