ADN pgm's in Los Angeles

U.S.A. California

Published

Hey!!! Im moving to Los Angeles in the summer 14, does any recommend an ADN program without a waitlist or lottery in or close to L.A, not familiar with the area at all, just doing some online research, would love to hear some options!!!!

I don't want to be discouraging but California is clogged up with hopeful nurses and unemployed nurses. The Northeast and the West Coast are pretty bad. My friend moved FROM California to Texas because wait lists were up to 3 to 4 years! The only thing I can suggest is rock your prerequisites ... like 4.0 good ... nothing below an A+ and rock the HESI enternece or TEAS .... & apply to a program that chooses based off merit and grades...

It's definitely achievable ... anything in life is ... just making you aware of California and the nursing glut there.

Thanks for the heads up!!!! I appreciate your time!!! I definitely will work extra hard on my pre-reqs!!!!! And yes anything in life is achievable if you put your mind to it!!!!!!! Thanks!!!!

Find A Community College

will help you find schools. Depending on area of town u will be living i would look in the surrounding counties. After you find programs you are willing to commute to look at the NCLEX pass rate. The LA County program is great but you MUST live in La county for a year before you apply.

for nclex.

Specializes in L&D, infusion, urology.

Every community college in CA runs off of a lottery system, and every program in CA that's through a public school accepts about 10% of applicants.

I COMPLETELY agree about your GPA- it's absolutely vital. If your grades are competitive, you might consider a CSU program. Tuition runs about $2750-3500 a semester right now, but otherwise, I'd imagine the costs are about the same.

Not every school runs off lottery. LA trade tech is first come first served, they do have a wait list it was one semester when i applied but changes. Schools out of larger cities may accept everyone who meets the cut off but they are in the middle of no where.
