Upper Iowa CEP

Hi everyone! I'm currently on the Maricopa wait list but working towards the Upper Iowa CEP, I will be done with all my classes this summer but I'll be able to apply when they do the May/June application session because only 1 will be in progress. Is anyone currently going through Iowa for the CEP? I'd love to hear feedback from someone in the program, the advisor told me its a great program but personal experience is always nice to hear :)

I believe this is a new program that just started Spring 2015 for the first time.

I'm in the NAU program I would think any of the program would stir you in a good direction. It is a lot of work, but doable. I think it is what you make of it. With a lot of the hospitals wanting you to have a bachelor degree I think it is a good idea to go CEP. One of my friends is waiting for them to post May's application days. Good luck and Congrats your almost there.

Thanks! I went back and forth trying to decide if I should do the BSN after I graduated but then more and more I look into it I feel I'd have the best options for me if I graduate right away with my BSN, not to mention then it would be over with :) I'm willing to put in the work so I'm glad to hear it's doable.

I'm hoping to start the UIU/CEP program in the Fall 2016. I saw on the brochure that a Critical Thinking and a Elementary Statistics class is required to start the program. I swear that wasn't the case like 2 months ago when I was preparing for the program. Does anyone have any information on those classes?

I just looked on the brochure (quickly) and didn't see them listed in the pre-reqs. They are, however, classes you have to take and they are woven into the program. I start in January, but I took critical thinking this semester so I wouldn't have to in Jan. And statistics will be in the summer for me. You should be able to see a course timeline on the brochure for both spring and fall entry.

What's your experience like so far with UIU? Is the classes through UIU difficult? Did you have to take the Elementary Statistics and Critical Thinking class?

Must've missed this earlier. I've had great experience with UIU so far in terms of the advisor and getting everything together. I would say The critical thinking course is not necessarily hard, but it is 10x more time consuming than any other class I've ever taken. It literally was like a part-time job with the amount of work that needed to be done. There is a lot to do in a little amount of time. There are a couple group projects that were a nightmare trying to complete (the joys of online group projects). I didn't really find the class helpful or interesting, but it's a requirement so I got it done. It was quite a change from the classes I've had through Maricopa though.

I haven't taken stats yet, but it's in my schedule for next summer. I'm taking it in person, I will not do it online!

I originally was going to take all their courses online, because I like the flexibility and I live far from their Mesa campus (especially if there's traffic, which is all the time). However, after doing this critical thinking course, I'm going to be taking my courses with them as hybrid from now on.

I start this summer with UIU. The advisors name is ------------------. She's very nice and actually listen to you. My advice is if you have taken any sort of statistic, utilize it cos for some reason they wanted me to take it with them and I emailed her my transcript and stated out I have all the class and don't want to retake anything that I got an A in. Starting SCC in the fall 16
