Moving to AZ....please help :)

U.S.A. Arizona

Hey everybody. I'm currently living in Michigan and working in a small community hospital in the ICU. I've been there 3 years. We're planning to relocate to somewhere around Phoenix this summer. I've been trying to do research online for safe areas to live/work in. Any help with this would be GREATLY appreciated. I have 4 children 16, 14, 9, and 8 and I want them to have a smooth transition as there is a HUGE difference between MI and AZ. We've been looking into Queen Creek, Chandler, Surprise, Glendale...places like that. Anyone have any suggestions? Also, any hospital suggestions. I really want to get back into the NICU but only have 6 months experience in that area. Just wondering if anyone can recommend any hospitals. Thanks in advance for any and all of your help!

I personally live in Goodyear which is directly south of Surprise. I know both of the areas pretty well and they are both very nice. Surprise is a fairly new development and has a lot to offer. There is a hospital near by, but if you want to get into NICU I probably wouldn't suggest it because it is aimed more towards the elderly. Glendale is such a big city that the areas range from safe to questionable areas. Peoria might be a nice area for you. I've heard good things about the Banner hospitals. Also Phoenix Children's Hospital might be of interest to you as their main focus is on children and babies.

All of this is of course is just my opinion, I don't in fact have any experience working at the hospitals and I am biased to the west side of the valley because that is where I grew up.

Thank you for the reply. I'm actually having a difficult time trying to figure it out. I've spent a lot of time trying to research each city to move somewhere at least a bit similar to where we live now. It's easier said than done though. It's even more difficult trying to apply for a position somewhere without knowing where we are going to live. Can't really do one without the other so to speak...I mean I could...but I don't want to have too far of a drive to work. I'm also trying to find a hospital that offers a relocation package and so far have only found a couple. Thanks again....back to the search!

I just moved here in February. I live in El Mirage. I don't know how it is in Michigan, as I am from Massachusetts, but it is similar, just not alot of grass. LOL...

I work in Med-Surg and I know that the hospital, Sun Health @ Boswell in Sun City, I work for doesn't have a NICU. I am sure Phoenix, has plenty. But, you have to remember there is traffic on the highways. Especially, if you are trying to move to the suburbs.
