HI -

Sorry if this is a repeat topic, but hoping to "meet" other applicants hoping to start their online university classes in Fall 2017 and CC in-person nursing blocks in Spring 2018.

Hi,

For those of you who got in this last round, can you tell me how many points you had?

Hi,

For those of you who got in this last round, can you tell me how many points you had?

I'll figure mine out based on the point system that is now available online at the CEP website.

Ooooh - the scoring system and rubric has changed quite a bit from what I was previously told! Looks like you can only select 2 colleges (it used to be 3). The nursing advisor I spoke with said that an AA dgree got 1pt, Bach 2 pts...but now it's a straight 2 points across the board!

Also, they are no longer accepting classes in progress so everything needs to be done by the time you apply. Looks like your GPA is weighted based on your university choice too. Looks like your overall HESI is no longer looked at, they take the English and math scores as separate.

WOW .... a real shake up from what I can see. I think competition is getting even tougher!!

Anyone who got in this last round wasn't based on this new rubric, Jen91, so our scores will be completely different. In fact, we weren't even given our scores and like AZSunshine said, it was all shrouded in mystery anyway - so we couldn't work things out for sure.

However, based on this new rubric my score would have been 25

Hi Jen, I am not sure what my points would be but I got a 90 on the math , 95 on English and I had 4.0 applying for ASU. Goodluck !

I am wondering of any of you guys have had orientation for your community college??

Hi Kaylynn -

I just received an email (at my Maricopa email address) a couple of days ago about orientation for the college. Mine in mid November, and it looks to be about 4 hours long. What college are you attending again? Have you started your University classes? How are they going?

Also here's the new CEP Rubric. It seems to have changed up a bit!

I'm going to Estrella CC. I want to say orientation was on or arounf November 15th from 9am-1pm. I'm excited fro that, I'm assuming we'll get a list of what we need to get such as scrubs etc! Woohoo! Which Uni are you with? I'm with Ottawa. Classes are going well, I'm enjoying them!

I went with ASU because I was in progress with a biology degree there so I was already familiar with the structure! I am excited for the scrubs I feel like once I have them I will realize it is real!

Oh absolutely - if you're already at ASU then that makes perfect sense to stay! My daughter's at ASU funnily enough! She loves it!

That's awesome I'm so glad she likes it! I really liked it! My campus was smaller than tempe but it was perfect for me!

True true that is a heavy load I would take a few days to look over what they expect. There is a Quizlet out there that has all of the vocab you need to know and that helped so much I got 100% for that section. And take your time on the reading. I kind of rushed through that and it lowered my score

Hi Kyalynn,

Wow. You have gotten 100% on vacab. This is the hardest section for me. I did bad on that, and it lowered my score. Would you provide me any suggestions to do well on that part please?

Hi again Sayla -

There are loads of online (free) websites with tests and revision for HESI. Plus I suggest getting the HESI book (I forget the name, but I can find it if you need me to)...it runs at about $30 new. It's available online or most likely the CC bookstores carry it. There are also some APs you can download onto your phone. Some cost $10 or so but they are worth it if it helps you!

On the day of the test, allow yourself the full allotted time. I think you get at least 3 hours, it might even be 4 or more, I forget. But, anyway - find out what it is, and arrive in plenty of time to sort our paperwork, pay, and get settled. Plus make sure you are hydrated and not hungry! And DON'T RUSH. Take your time and think carefully rather than blast thru the answers!!

Best of luck - I know how stressful it is!
