It is usually a oine - two semester wait. However, they are redoing the admission requirements and the CNA prereq will no longer be required after July of this year. They are predicting that after the CNA requirement goes away it will be a 3 semester wait not counting summers.....

You also can't even apply until you're in your final semester of pre-req's. Pre-req's can take as long as two years depending on how many classes you take or if you've already taken some of them. If I were to do it over I'd probably apply at one of the skill centers, at least you're guaranteed a start date and you don't need your pre-req's finished to start. They only complete the LPN level, but then you can apply as an advanced student to one of the CC's and probably won't have any trouble getting in. I think the skill centers have about a one year wait right now, and you can work on your pre-req's while you're waiting.

what if your done with your pre reqs when you apply?? Does it make a difference with the wait??

If you're already done with your pre-req's you go to active status right away. That means you can be placed during the runs. You can also apply at any time. I think when you're in your last semester of pre-req's you can only apply during the application week, and then you're not put on active status until your pre-req's are finished, so you aren't eligible for placement. Either way, the wait is still usually at least one semester, sometimes two.

so does that mean that if i have all my pre-reqs done that i'll get in the next semester. does the lottery system still stand for me? Thanks!!

if you're finished with your prereqs then you are eligible to apply. how long you have to wait depends on how many openings there are, how many people apply, how many schools you put down for choices, and what your lottery # is. Lottery #'s are assigned at random so it would be hard to say how long you have to wait. In addition to your prereqs you will also need to submit the following with your application:

fingerprint clearance card

cpr certification for healthcare providers card

net scores (net test has to be taken at one of the community college testing centers)

download the application from the mccd website. The application has instructions on how to apply for the program and what is needed in order to apply. Also, it takes about 6-8 weeks to receive your fingerprint clearance card so you'll want to allow eneough time for that to be processed....

I hope this helps....

Here is the link for AZ's Dept of Public Safety. You may want to give them a call to see if you can apply for one from out of state....
