GCU or NAU/CEP

U.S.A. Arizona

I have been set on GCU but began to read about the NAU CEP program. I will be done with my GCU pre-reqs this spring and plan on applying for the summer or fall program. For the NAU program I would need one additional class, which I could do in the Spring as well.

This sounds bad but I just want to graduate fairly quickly with the knowledge I need, I don' t want to wait years. The NAU program cost about 20k less then GCU but I'm not sure what the process would be and the time it would take to complete those.

If I were to finish my classes in the spring, how long is the process to apply and be accepted into the Maricopa County program? From there how long would it take to be accepted?

Sorry, if this seems scattered, I'm trying to figure out whats best finicially for my family. If I were to have to wait an full additional to begin it wouldn't make sense but if it's less then that may be my best option.

Thank you :)

It's easy and pretty quick, you just finish your prereqs then you attend an information session, after that you attend an application session, then you start the next semester. Here is a link for the info Maricopa Community Colleges District Nursing Program

Hello there, just wanted to let you know that there is an application session in Feb, but you need to be on the nursing waiting list, have all your classes done before that, and have gone to an information session. Since you are taking spring classes you should be able to apply in may for the the following spring. The application session in Feb is for the NAU CEP Program for the Fall of 2014.

Hello,

I am in the opposite situation of you, I was set on nau cep (because of cost) and just switched to gcu. Though GCU is more expensive the fast track program is only 16 months but the cep with nau is 4blocks/4semesters plus the additional semester to get the Bachelor's. There are summer breaks though so it comes out to 2.5 years. If u take an extra nau class in the summer you can finish sooner but still a min of 2 years. Depends on your individual situation and how soon you need to graduate.

Going to GCU do you need any extra class and what test is required to get into the nursing program? One other question is there a wait list? thank you

Hi Brenda -

I believe the current pre-requisites for the GCU program are about the same as NAU CEP, except you also need to have Soc 101. They currently require the TEAS test (just the Math and Reading sections), but when I attended an info session this summer, they indicated they had plans to switch to the HESI at some point in the future. I recommend attending an information session if you are thinking about GCU as they can give you more up-to-date info.

Edited to add: It is my understanding they do not maintain a waitlist. I think you have to re-apply if you don't get in/can't attend the semester you applied for.

Thank you so much for the information it is worth looking into. I have not taken Soc 101. Thank you again.
