Desirable Attributes in a PCT

I was recently hired into the PCT training program for a local (Tucson) hospital. After our training, I will be assigned to the float pool until I am able to apply for, and be offered, a permanent position.

I would love to hear from Tucson nurses about any specific attributes, skills or traits you appreciate and/or desire in the techs that you supervise. I would like to hit the ground running once I've completed my training, so any input you are willing to give would be greatly appreciated!

Of course, any other advice or thoughts that might help me be more successful right out of training would be wonderful as well.

Thanks!

Well, I am a Phoenix nurse, but no one in Tucson is answering you. So I will!

1. Be easy to find

2. Know what chores you are responsible for and do them. Don't wait till the nurse has to telll you to do them.

3. Volunteer your help to all the nurses before you start doing hobbies. (Hobbies include chatting up the opposite sex, computing, knitting, magazine reading, etc.)

If you do these three items, you will be miles ahead any other PCT.

Thanks so much for your reply, Hoozdo!

In my interview, I actually talked about being good with finding "stuff" to do if there's downtime at work, and that I always try to make sure I'm not leaving tasks for the next shift (or other employees in general) if at all possible. So, hopefully, I can just adapt that habit to my new (hospital) environment.

Thanks again for your input, I really appreciate it :]

I am sure you will do great. You have a very enthusiastic attitude! :)

Those are great tips and if you're an individual who loves to serve; then it will show. :)
