CNA prgram in Phoenix area

I'm new to AZ working as a LPN-my neice lives in Phoenix and is looking to get her CNA lisense ; she was wondering if there were any free or very inexpensive CNA programs where you could work and possibly earn some $$ at the same time. Needless to say, she doesn't have lots of money. Any recommendations?

though there are some free ones they are very very limited and take a long time to get into and usually a contract with a nursing home. RSAA in Mesa offers a program for $850 that can be paid in installments monthly while she's working.

The extended care facility at which I did my clinical rotations for my CNA program hired some of their CNAs first and then put them through their own CNA training. Then they paid for a group licensing kind of thing where an RN tester came to the facility and did the boards onsite.

That was in Tempe/Mesa area though and I don't know if they still do that. It might not be wasted time to call nursing homes in your area and see if they offer their own training.

try Chula Vista in Mesa then. They are pretty big and do CNA state testing so they may or may not offer a CNA program to staff.

Also, there are quite a few nursing homes who will train someone to become a CNA for free, as long as they work for them for a little while.

I took my state boards at Chula Vista. It's not the nicest nursing home in town, but it is big, as AZMOMO2 says, and might be a good place to get experience at. I can't remember if they do their own training or not.

MiCasa and Springdale Rehab were two of the places we used during my clinicals. Those facilities are very nice and it seems like they are always hiring CNAs.

Visit http://www.ptihealthcollege.com. I spoke to one of their enrollment counselors and they have low tuition costs and have a few options if you need tuition assistance. Also, you can get your program finished in apx. 4 weeks, in-class instruction and externship. The program seems to b all inclusive. I am encouraging any CNA prog. students to check them out ;)
