ASU Nursing Program Spring 2011 hopefuls

U.S.A. Arizona

Published

Hi,

I am thinking of applying for Spring 2011. I have just found out that the lowest TEAS score for ASU was about 79% with average of 87%. I am worried. I have a GPA of 4.0. But last time I took the TEAS for Fall (w/o studying!!), I got 75.3%. I still did not start preparation as the kids have summer break and I am busy with them. But, I was wondering if someone has already applied... Can anyone also suggest how they are preparing for the TEAS? Let's post our GPAs and TEAS score to know where we stand... It might also work as encouragement for some of us.:)

ALTERNATES: There are only 5 more of us! When I signed into the 'Welcome Meeting' I saw only 4 other names with mine, and the girl at check-in confirmed there are only 5 left...So we pretty much know our ranking, with the exception of one person! :)

5.574 Rach2012

5.574 dreamingbig

5.565 Tgirl

5.558 MJMcWhirter

Still staying optimistic, but either way- we are all only 5 months away from the Summer cycle. Alternates please update this thread if you are advanced. Good luck!

Hi Rach2012,

I wish we could have exchanged information today but I had to leave early. So, you have not gotten in yet either? Well, let's keep in touch and see what we can find out. My email address is [email protected],

Talk to you soon,

T

REMAINING ALTERNATES: Just letting you know that I messed up slightly with telling some of you who I thought was still on the Alternate List, and who got advanced to Accepted from the Alternate List.

I thought I personally knew Rach2012, as I thought she was the girl I knew from class who said she was on the Alternate List and later got advanced. She said she got a phone call soon after the acceptance letters went out, and they said she had been advanced from the Alternate List to Accepted, and wanted to know if I had gotten a call. I talked to her today (12/8) at the orientation meeting. She's still in, but doesn't know any other Alternates, other than me. But I always thought she was Rach2012. Apparently, she isn't. So, Rach2012, you are STILL a disembodied email address to me! ;-)

On the other hand, I did meet Tgirl today, and she stated that she only saw 4(? I think she said 4) Alternates on the sign-in sheet, indicating there are only 4 Alternates left. Based on that, I didn't get up and say anything at the orientation, since I figure we already all know each other online. Now, Rach2012 says there are 5 Alternates left, which means there is one person we don't know. Either way, it indicates I'm either #9 or #10 on the list, which pretty much answers my original question of where I stood on the Alternate List, and it gives the rest of you a pretty good idea of where you stand, too.

Nonetheless, if any of you, including the Mystery Fifth Alternate, happen to have their status changed from Alternate to Accepted, sing out on this website. We might even buy you a beer..... ;-)

BTW, at the orientation, I was the short old guy with the short hair seated in the 4th row, left side.

Moe

still not in =/ i'll email you shortly tgirl.

wish all of us alternates could have all met up after the meeting but i was waiting on mjmcwhirter ! i was too shy to speak up and also didn't want anyone to feel pressured to meet.

sorry for any confusion mjmcwhirter- still on that waiting list with you! and there were definitely 5 names total on the alternate list at sign in- i triple checked :)

LOL, short old guy? You better stop saying that- I pictured a short, fat, hairy guy with a big ol' beer belly and food all over his shirt!

Anyway, yes, there are 5 of us still on the alternate list (as Rach2012 stated). I think I'm just planning on retaking the teas exam and hope for the summer class. I am curious what the score was of the last alternate that was advanced. hmmm...

Well, good luck everyone- it will all work out as it should :)

Yeah, I even walked around talking to bunches of people after the first break (and before I talked to Tgirl) trying to find some Alternates.....couldn't find anyone! Except for Tgirl (who actually had the courage to talk to me!), all the rest of you Alternates are also disembodied email addresses to me.....just like Rach2011! (that is supposed to be a "rolling your eyes in quasi-exasperation" icon.....never seen it before until I used this email thread, actually...I wish I had it on my regular email....I'd use it all the time!) ;)

Tgirl: "Old short guy with beer belly and food on his shirt"! HA! You obviously didn't look at my shirt very closely! :rotfl:

OK, enough of this! :hlk: This is a serious chat room! Only very important ASU Nursing School admissions stuff discussed here! Nothing else! Straighten Up and Turn To! .....unless, of course, anyone wants to go get a beer after their last final (or even before it!) and commiserate about ASU :hdvwl:, nursing :nurse:, and anything else that suits their fancy....in which case, I'll buy! ;)

(I wish I had found this emoticon feature long ago....it's GREAT!) :nmbrn:

Hi,

I wanted to meet you guys too. But felt shy to ask. I am actually in. Got a call 3rd week of Nov. I am sorry I should have told you guys before. But, could not believe it until today, that it is actually true. I didn't even apply for the scholarship..... The program is expensive, but I am way too happy today to think about the finance now. I am eagerly waiting to see you all in class. I am pretty sure that all of us will be in the program. Good Luck to all of you.

congratulations dreamingbig! since we had the same exact advancement scores i am curious to know how they decide between alternates... i hope i'm next in!!!

i spoke with ------ about how they decided between alternates if there is a tie. she said that after looking at the overall admittance scores, they then look to gpa's and dreamingbig had a higher gpa than me. she indirectly told me i'm the next to be advanced if that helps anyone else figure out where they stand on being admitted after me. keeping my fingers crossed that someone who is currently advanced changes their mind!!!!

You guys are so awesome! You all have really great attitudes, that is so great to hear/see/read! It always happens every year that people from allnurses.com want to meet, but then usually don't! I met like 10 other people from my cohort on allnurses.com and we didn't really meet over the Orientation, but we did all meet at Lighting of the Lamp! Then again, our Lighting of the Lamp was BEFORE school started, not the first week of school like it is for you guys.

I wish I could have met some of you guys, too! I am in CCNS so I inevitably saw some of you guys, I just didn't know who you were hehe. For those of you not in, KEEP YOUR HOPES UP! They literally admitted some of the alternates in my cohort the Friday before school started, so you never know!

Good luck on your finals (if you have any left!) and have a great winter break everyone!
