ASU Nursing Program Spring 2011 hopefuls

U.S.A. Arizona

Hi,

I am thinking of applying for Spring 2011. I have just found out that the lowest TEAS score for ASU was about 79% with average of 87%. I am worried. I have a GPA of 4.0. But last time I took the TEAS for Fall (w/o studying!!), I got 75.3%. I still did not start preparation as the kids have summer break and I am busy with them. But, I was wondering if someone has already applied... Can anyone also suggest how they are preparing for the TEAS? Let's post our GPAs and TEAS score to know where we stand... It might also work as encouragement for some of us.:)

Hi all!

I did not make it on the alternate list. My overall score was a 5.534. Does anyone know if students have been admitted in the past that were not on the alternate list if there was a slot available and all the alternates were called? Long shot I know, but you never know these days.

Hi Moe! I'm new to allnurses and have been following this thread. Kudos to everyone I will be in your places very soon! I am applying for the summer start and still have to take the TEAS. I have a borrowed TEAS book but it's pretty old and didn't know if there was a more current version? It's edition 3.0 is that the version you studied with? I have to do well on this test because my GPA has a huge range. At the lowest worst case scenario is a 3.86 and best case 4.0 ;) it's up in the air so I must do well. Thanks for any helpful info. Good Luck!

AkAtHrt:

I didn't study for the TEAS. I took it cold. I just walked in to take it after a final this summer, after nearly forgetting it was the day to take it! However, I understand that the new book to study from is Version 5. Good luck with the test!

Moe

Hi and thank you! I must have gotten your post mixed up with someone else. After reading post after post on a phone my eyes were a lil tired :). Are you still goin for the summer program at ASU? I'm curious to find out what the competition will be like for the Mayo option? Good luck and thanks again!

I have the latest TEAS (V) book which I never used. I walked into the test unprepared too due to lack of time!!! So I got the book to start preparing for a retest. But, now that I am in the Spring 2011 class, I am ready to sell the book. You can let me know if you are interested.

Hi dreamingbig! Thanks for the offer I am still familiarizing myself with this site so if you wanted to discuss price and pickup privately I'm not sure how to do that. Congrats on getting in by the way! Let me know what works best thanks!

AkAtHrt,

I don't know how to communicate these info here either. Can anyone else please help?

Wishing all my friends a very happy and prosperous New Year... Eagerly waiting to meet all of you in class.

Does anyone know how many alternates were placed for your cohort? I made the alternate list for Summer 2011 cycle and would like some hope!!

for the spring 2011 group im pretty sure at least one alternate got on. maybe more than that. there is definately hope for you. not over yet so good luck

Thanks dsgillis! I am hopefull. My score is 5.534 and the cutoff is 5.545. Sooooo close! I just wish I knew what number I am out of the 10! I guess time will tell.

Hi all! Moe here again, after a 4-month hiatus. I'm mobilized to Wash DC for a couple of weeks (Damn Libyans!), but will be back in Phoenix soon. ASU said they'd send out acceptance/rejection/alternate list letters thhis week, and I have friends looking at my mail for the letter, but I haven't gotten anything yet. However, it sounds like at least one of you already knows they are on the Summer 2011 Alternate List. Here's what I know about the ASU selection process from the Spring 2011 cycle:

I was on an alternate list of 10 people for Spring 2011, but did not get accepted. I personally know of 3 people who got accepted, and I heard that a total of 5-6 on the List were eventually accepted. I had a selection score of 5.558 (I think).

I assume there will be a 10-person Alternate List for Summer 2011 also, but this class is bigger, so they could expand the Alternate List a bit. I don't expect they'll tell you what your ranking on the list is, as they didn't tell me last time, despite major cage-rattling. I have a 5.814 score this time, and a TEAS of 91. I hope that's good enough for ASU this time around.

Good luck to you all! If you need to pick my brain any further, my cell phone number is 319-610-6683.
