About getting CNA job at hospital in AZ

Know anyone who works as a CNA in an Arizona Hospital?

I am researching what hospitals are hiring. After I get my CNA the 2nd time around I really want to try to get a job at a hospital.

I am worried because at Banner it says something about CNAs preferably having their training done at a community college.

I am considering RSAA.. I don't understand why community college training is preferred? Anyone know?

The 1st time I went to CNA school I did a hospital pilot program where we were trained for hospital work and did our clinicals in a hospital. I wonder if that will help me at all... other then hospital clinicals I only have assisted living/LTC experience.

Any advice?

Hopefully a CNA who got a job at a hospital here will have some advice ;-) I might post on the regular CNA forum. The first time I got my CNA it was SO hard to get a job at the hospital. I applied for 6 months to tons of hospitals and finally gave up. I don't know if I tried as hard as I could have though.

Hopefully I'll have better luck this time..

ok, for anyone else wondering about the banner/community college cna thing.. i wrote an e-mail to them asking about it.

this is what they said

"thank you for your interest in banner health. each position listed has a section that outlines the qualifications. some things that are listed in that section say 'preferred'. those are not necessarily things that will disqualify you. as long as you have the necessary licensing/registration it should not really matter where you received that from. please login to the website to view our current job listings and apply for as many as you are interested in."

i am sticking with rsaa for now ;-)

I got my CNA training through a LTC facility and did not have a hard time finding a job at a hospital after that. I think it took me about 2 weeks from the time I started sending out applications until the day I actually got hired. Make sure your resumee looks good and send it to as many hospitals as possible. They ARE looking for CNA's ALL the time, although they might prefer an experienced one, many are willing to train you and teach you how to do things their way. :)

How very encouraging to hear! Just curious, on your resume, did you put all your non-medical jobs on there as well? I need to start putting mine together.

Yes, put all your previous job experiences on there, even the non-medical ones. They can still inquire about your work ethics and standards even though it wasn't a job in the medical field. Also be sure to list any classes that you took that look good on a resumee. For example, medical terminology, anatomy, Spanish, etc. After all, you make your first impression through your resumee!
