Lawson State Nursing Program

U.S.A. Alabama

Published

Hi everyone, I don't see any recent forums on Lawson state. I'm considering applying to Lawson, so If you are a graduate, current student, or applicant who has any tips, advice, opinions, or if you'd like to share your experience with the nursing program please post here.

I just talked to them. I didn't make the cut off for the ADN program. I declined the lpn program and she gave me tips on how to improve my chances next go around. No worries. I have good job now so I'm not in too big of a rush. I'll retake a few things and reapply for next fall. Different route but same destination.

what did she say u need to improve in maybe i need to do the same ?

She told me to retake theTEAS for a higher score and consider that additional course they offer that will give you the extra 10 points on your score. Worth a try.

I did not get in. I guess to both LPN or RN. I have been trying for 4 yes to get into a community college program. I'm feeling so down. But god does everything for a reason. I'm considering going to Herzing for LPN or waiting to fight again this spring. I had high hopes of at least LPN. But nothing I'm feeling really down. The letter doesn't say weather it is both or not at this point I'm not sure what I need or want to do. If got opened the door to Herzing that must be where he wants me I turned them down three times hoping on Lawson Jeff state and Wallace for cost reasons

I hope everything works out for you, the main thing is to never give up. God is in control of timing, you just keep faith, believe, and keep reaching towards your goal

Thank you so much focus1. I start lpn school at herzing Aug 28. Jeremiah 29:11. God knows best for I only think I know. I will be attending herzing super excited. Im allowing god to take the wheel im just following his path.

When I got in as a Fall semester student in '13, Lawson mailed a letter around the last week of July. They favor current or past Lawson State students when deciding who to let in; however, I do know a few students that got in out-of-state. The program is extremely rigorous, but you'll know your stuff.

Take some extra classes (Running, Basketball, etc.) to boost your GPA and study hard for the entrance exam - the TEAS or HESI - can't remember.

I would definitely consider a vocational or technical school like VA College or Herzing. In the time you'll spend trying to get into community college, you could have already progressed or be progressing through nursing school in another college. What you'll be making in salary when you get out will more than make up for the time you didn't lose when trying to get into a CC, regardless of how much more $$ a technical school is..........just a thought. ;)

Really? I know a girl who went to Herzing who can't pass her nclex after multiple tries. I'm not knocking technical schools, they are good for certain majors. I'm just not sure it's worth it to go there if you can't pass the nclex. Please inform me if I'm wrong :)

I want say you are wrong or right because for one. Every person learns differently so I can not see how she made it through school and could not pass the exam. Unless she/ he has test taking issues but technical school, university or community college. Many people face these issues you can not blame the school because each person and there situation is different. I know a ex coworker who worked at the nursing home with me graduated from a university and took the exam that we know three times. Did not pass until the fourth time and they came from a well respect university.

Is it hard to get into the nursing program at Lawson?
