Jeff State Fall 2014 Hopefuls

U.S.A. Alabama

Hey everyone! I know this is sort of early, but I am planning on applying for the Fall 2014 nursing program at the Jeff State / Center Point campus! Looking for other Fall hopefuls :nurse::up:

Jess, what is this dosage calculations packet you mention? It this a night and weekend thing. I have a book of which I have completed chapter 3, but i'm not sure what you mean by a packet.

It might be a N/W thing. It was part of the orientation folder. It has a pre-test, then some explanations of how to calculate conversions and titrations etc. and some reading to be done before class starts.

Megan, it's not a N/W thing, I am full time at Jefferson campus and they gave us a dosage calculation packet to get started learning. On my calendar it says first quiz isn't until next Monday, so that's why I was wondering if it was mandatory to learn before class.. Because I'm trying to learn it, but I think it will be easier if someone is actually teaching it!

Hello everyone! How is everyone's first semester going?

Great so far!

I'm applying for Spring '15, so I'm really anxious and have lots of questions, lol. Have you guys started clinicals? If so, do you get to pick where you go, and the unit you go to? Anything advice/comments y'all have would be helpful! Thanks!

We don't start until next semester for n/w, but I don't think you get to choose

Does anyone have any info on how different Jefferson and Shelby campus are? I've been hearing awful things about Shelby and they were my first choice. I have Jefferson as my second choice, and I just don't know which one to really go for now.

I'm at Shelby and I don't think it's awful. There are a lot of complainers out there. All nursing classes are challenging. Expect to work hard, read, and study. As far as clinicals, we were asked to list our preferences in selected clinical sites. Most of the clinicals in nursing school will be med/surg. Just calm down and enjoy your freedom before you start the program. It's very doable.
