Holy Cross in Ft. Lauderdale

Specialties Agency

I also posted this in the travel nursing forum. Just wondered if anyone knows about this facility? What is the work environment like, staff attitude towards travelers/seasonal/agency, med-surg nurse to patient ratio, housing near the hospital etc. Any info on this or any other Ft. Lauderdale hospital would be greatly appreciated.

Don't he know anything specific about Holy Cross, other than that it has a really good reputation locally.

If you are thinking of coming to Fort Lauderdale soon, make sure you check into housing really well. Broward county had a problem with a lack of affordable housing and that has only been exacerbated by the hurricane.

Thank You Sunqueen. Hadn't even thought of the possibility of housing problem. Any comments on the Broward General or Imperial Point? I believe they are from the same system, and suprisingly someone in HR told me Boward General is considered the "indigen hospital because of our clientele." I really don't mind caring for the poor or underserved. I am more concerned with how management treat nurses and how nurses treat each other.

Specializes in TNCC CEN CPEN CCRN.

"The General" is the largest facility in south florida, bigger than Jackson Memorial in Miami. They see more adult trauma alerts than Jackson, but JMH gets the higher acuity ones at Ryder Trauma. From what I've heard, the working environment at BGMC is good, not the best, but they (management) won't stiff you at every turn.

Imperial Point is a smaller facility, located in Noth Ft. Lauderdale, in an older (expensive) neighborhood. Some indigent care, and inpatient psych also. I would rate IPMC over BGMC for working environment.

my mother has spent a lot of time as a holy cross patient, and she thinks highly of the hospital and nurses. don't know if that helps
