New nurse trying to get into injecting..advice

Specialties Aesthetics

Hello fellow nurses. I am a new RN in Dallas TX, and my dream is to make women feel more beautiful and confident in the world of aesthetics. The problem is... how to get into the field with no experience?! I have looked into training courses but WOW they are expensive. Any advice helps and thank you!

Unfortunately in my experience, most places will not hire unless you're certified, but the classes and certification are very expensive and it doesn't guarantee you a job. I looked up reputable medical spas in my area and sent emails introducing myself and explaining my passion for aesthetic nursing. I am fortunate in the sense that I've been a hairstylist for 14 years, so I found a very small office with a provider that has taken me under their wing and has shown me the ropes. I hope this helps and good luck!!

Specializes in Nursing.

Yes! They are so expensive, I agree. My goal right now is to just get certified in Laser/light therapies, dermal filler, chemical peel and Botox.

I really want to learn cool sculpting as well!! But I think I will start with these four and then build from there. I have heard that you can get training direct from Allergen (the makers of Botox) - but I haven't been able to confirm this.

I too would love to become an aesthetic nurse. I am so torn as to how to go about doing this. I am in an ICU currently and am so unhappy. Before nursing, I worked as a nail tech, so I love the salon atmosphere and want to get back into that environment. I plan to attend a training course at Natl Laser Institute in May. I am also going to start cosmetology school in July so I will be able to do hair also. Good luck to you!
