Pre-registration Program for Overseas Qualified Nurses (PPOQN)

Course Outline

The Re-entry Program for Division 1 Registered Nurses (RPRN) and Pre-registration Program for Overseas Qualified Nurses (PPOQN) is an 11-week non-award program that leads to registration as a Division 1 professional nurse with the Nurses Board of Victoria (NBV), Australia. The program contains both theoretical and clinical components and is delivered at accredited health care venues in central and western Victoria that are ‘Partnered’ with the University of Ballarat. Both components of the program require satisfactory completion of assignments and/or clinical competencies.

Written confirmation from the NBV as to the eligibility of participants to undertake this program must be obtained before applying for the program. Note that satisfactory completion of this program does not entitle the participant to employment at clinical venues utilised in delivery of the program.

Hello Lavalin or anyone who can answer...

What do you think is the best school for the Bridge Program in Victoria?

ETEA, Deakin, Victoria, Ballarat, ...etc...there's alist of accredited schools in the NBV. Which of them is the best regardless of tuition fee ? and which also offers the least expensive tuition?

thank you :wink2:

Is there an age limit for being registered in NBV? Because in QNC its only up to 45 right? I am considering victoria too. I am wondering if my friend can just try NBV since she is 46... Thanks.

It will depend on the type of visa. Some have a age limit

it really depends on the hospital....as ramsay health care is a network of hospitals. if one of its member hospital will not accept you they will look for another hospital for you...and your admission to a certain member of their hospital network will really depend on the outcome of your interview too. :)

hi ryan, do you mean, they will accept you for enrollment even if you don't have post registration work experience but pass the interview?

hi, when i rang them, they just told me to complete the application form and then they will forward your application to the different hopitals includedd in their network...and once a certain hospital have accepted your application they will arrange for an interview. and i guess, if youre not in australia they will just interview you over the phone. Ramsay health care will look for a suitable hospital for you.

Thanks , how can I contact the Ramsay health care?

After any type of bridging program or competency course in Australia, you may or may not be registered. If you pass the bridging program, you will be registered, however, should you fail, you will not be registered in the end. Sadly, there's no assurance for this one or any other pathway anyway.

You can only apply for a working visa after you have been registered with NBV and assessed by ANMC. You will also have to have an employer for the 457 Visa (temporary long stay visa) or even the Skilled Sponsored (migrant/permanent) visa. The latter one needs you to have experience tho.

Hope that answers your question. :)

hi aelith

what would i do first? pass my application to nbv or be assessed by ANMC? can i pass my application to nbv w/o a visa? do i really need to beassessed by ANMC?

Thanks , how can I contact the Ramsay health care?

hi everyone :-) A question here, before submitting any application to any approved hospital for the bridging program, is it preceded first by an application to the nursing board of Victoria for the assessment and approval? Thank you
