They have revised the US unemployment numbers, it is much higher than first thought.

Before you post, that there are still jobs and you hope retrogression is over. Please think.

These are my neighbors who don't have a job and may loss their homes.

That hospitals are hurting and nurses are also loosing their jobs.

The the US economy has changed and nurses are looking for more work ( second jobs) and nurses are returning back to the bedside.

The trend of importing nurses has stopped and their are no economic incentives for bringing in new nurses ( hospitals could get tax write offs this has stopped).

It is Christmas time, this is only November's number, my guess is December's will be higher. There are families attached to these numbers. How would you feel if over 1.2 million people is your country one month lost their source of income? At and probably to news will be worse!

Ha Ha Ha-30 years old but classed as a classic collectable car and worth far more than a 1997 Subaru- I would think

Yeah, but the all wheel drive rocks. Never got stuck in snow or ice.

Not every area of the country is hurting, and there still are pockets of where there's a nursing shortage.

My floor has a Filipino nurse, who was recruited prior to passing her boards. She lives here in Florida, she took her boards recently in Minnesota and failed. So we are now supporting a tech. When she passes her boards in Minnesota, we have to wait for her to get her license in Florida. Something is quite wrong with this situation.

I wish the areas of shortage would recruit from areas of glut, where there are nurses whom have passed boards but don't have a job yet. Surely some of them are available to move.

It all depends on the area that you work at. Some hospitals don't allow IP's anymore and for that reason...it goes for both foreign and local nurses. I wonder why that nurse from the Philippines is taking the boards in Minnesota when she lives in Florida...

I also thought Florida requires foreign trained nurses to have 2 years of experience to apply also.

Florida is a nice state, it is on my lists of places I may want to move to. I prefer the east side though.

You'd think so but unfortunately I bought it for £1,350 three years ago and it's probably worth about £800-900 now. However, it is cheap to run and never breaks down. Also don't need a sound system because it sounds so lovely. Thrift.

Alex: Rear wheel drive + low geared = FUN! :)

Well, her in Phoenix, no news of lay offs in hospitals...All of my friends are working in hospitals and their hospitals are still hiring.

I am a school nurse here in Phoenix, and we are also in need of a nurse in one of our school.

Yeah I had one in the 80s when I was a poor nurse (nothing much changed there then) but it needed a new engine and couldn't afford it.

I thought they were rear wheel drive, and mine was awful in wet or icy conditions, but what do I know-I'm a woman.

We are well off topic here-we will get our hands smacked

You might want to check again because there might be a hiring freeze in PHoenix but one might not know it...I had no idea that there was a hiring freeze in our hospital until someone told me...If you look at the postings, there are jobs that are still posted but nobody from outside will be hired to fill those positions...They want to cram as many patients per RN/LVN/CNA and work the living dog out of until before they start hiring again...I'm not sure how long the hiring freeze will be in effect....Most of the desirable metropolitan areas are on a hiring freeze....I don't see many foreign trained nurses wanting to go for a job out in Maskogee (forgive me if I mispelled it) Oklahoma...
