Hi everyone!! Im new here. Anyway, im from the philippines and currently living in California for about a week now. I want to work here but i have no working visa. Iam a registered nurse in Philippines and also passed the NCLEX in the state of illinois. So right now I cant find a RN job that could sponsor me so i could work here in cali. So instead i plan to take CNA here coz i think its easier for me to find a job. But can i challege the CNA CERTIFICATION here in california? Thank you so much guys!!!

You will need to contact them and ask. Best of luck.

FYI CNA isn't going to qualify you for a work visa.

Even if you find a employer the likelihood of staying whilst being processed will be hard and you may find you have to return home whilst waiting. As mentioned a CNA job will not get a work visa. BSN minimum is required and all gone for this year so unless the job is exempt the cap ie non profit organisation then your employer will have to wait until next April to file and can't start work until Oct and that is if you are lucky to get picked as you will be fighting with other professions over the lottery of H1b

Kabayan, even if you could find a RN job, sponsored or not, and assume you do get a work visa, there's another issue that may prevent any CA employer to hire you as a CA RN, you need to make sure that your educational transcripts will meet the strict CA BRN requirements (especially the concurrency issues) via the endorsement process from IL to CA.

There was a very recent development in which someone (educated in PH with a BSN from there) got hired as a CA RN only to have her CA license to asked to be returned immediately so until you can successfully get your IL RN license endorsed over to a CA one, you may face the same fate as the poster did; a job loss and unregistered CA nurse.

Unfortunately for the OP, just because Illinois licensed her doesn't mean that California automatically will. ANY applicant, whether by testing or endorsement, has to submit transcripts to the CA BRN so the BRN can determine if they graduated from a nursing program that meets all of CA's requirements. If her nursing program doesn't meet CA's criteria, they won't license her regardless of whether Illinois or any other state has.
