already passed the CGFNS and IELTS- how to take NCLEX in Illinois

Good day! I am a nurse from the Philippines and now planning to take NCLEX and be a registered nurse in Illinois. You see, I already passed the CGFNS as well as the IELTS. I was wondering if I need to request CGFNS a Credential Evaluation Service since I already passed the exam. And, I also would like to know if I have to take also the TOEFL since as I mentioned earlier I already passed another english exam which is the IELTS.

hope for replies soon! thanks a lot

When applying for endorsement you still have to follow requirements for foreign nurse so if they require CES or CVS then you have to follow it through. What is it you are really finding confusing regarding IL BON process?

Thank you. Have you applied to this state? It's not actually confusing, it's fussy. That's how I look at it personally (in terms of processing) as compared to other states NM (the most accessible and easy to apply to, I should say), in such a way that there's a lot of processes to go through...Fingerprinting for one. It would be better if they would send these fingerprint cards via airmail by request than have to go to US embassy to get one and be handed by another fingerprint card of another state (as in the case of dcraneses). By coincidence, I've chanced upon a thread here of some American nurses in US who seem to even have a difficulty in getting there in Chicago (endorsement processing). Likewise, an acquaintance in my NCLEX review class can attest that applying to IL BON is, indeed, a bit taxing and takes a longer time. Knowing this, I have to turn on my patience button, considering the CES matter, also.

Well, nothing I can do, got my employment there, might as well do it.

I recently underwent Licensure by Endorsement to IDFPR because my initial state of licensure is NM but my petitioner is from IL. I agree it's a bit laborious compared to NM BON requirements. However, if your application is accurate and complete (meaning all supporting documents in order), I believe IDFPR is really fast in its processing. Case in point is my application. IDFPR received it on May 11, 2007 and issued me a license on May 30, 2007.

I hope you get through your application well. God bless.

A lot of states do fingerprinting, I had to do it for AZ which in the UK is a bit hard as most police stations don't use ink anymore. Sometimes being 'fussy' is a good thing but if you take your time and complete everything carefully then things will flow in a nice manner

Couldn't agree more (the verse).

That's really fast...I'm happy for you. Good to know there's one positive point (from you) to take regarding this matter. I hope and pray it would be the same with me.

Thanks a lot. God bless you, too.

Thank you, I really appreciate your counsels. I guess I have to agree with that because everything has to be in order, rushing will only cause trouble.

I dont know, maybe it's just my want to take nclex sooner that made me seem impatient with this one.

just use the time to practice questions and prepare yourself for NCLEX. We all want things to move faster but with retrogression in progress for nurses and I140's taking several months to be approved in both Nebraska and Texas things are not going to move fast so might as well take advantage and use it wisely :)

i would suggest you to apply for licensure to il directly since you're working in that state. endorsing would take you more time (i think). il is not really bad when it comes to eligibility as long as you submit the required documents in a timely manner.

you wont even have big problems with the ces since you have a cg certificate whether you apply for a ces report or a letter of cg cert verification. cgfns has your record on file.

goodluck to you! im taking the nclex for il licensure.

Hi...been a member for a long time now but just got the interest to post a query inasmuch as the thread I've been following here is related to my case...

Wonder what happened to dcraneses' application to IL...Hope to hear from you. I'd appreciate that really since I'm on to applying to IL BON, too.

Passed the CGFNS and IELTS and obtained my Visascreen Cert, also. I plan to apply for nclex in IL asap, besides my work application is in that State (I'm waiting for my packet 3). But, when I got to read their processing method, I literally got a headache. It's complicated. I wish to apply to other states that are non-fussy yet my friend advised that I will undergo the same process when I will request for an endorsement as I'll be working there in IL, so why not do it now?

Miss Suzanne, is it true that I will undergo exactly the same process of application for exam as I would with endorsement? I read in the IL Licensing instructions about the application process and likewise withthe process for endorsement..it seems similar, but I guess there might be some slight changes that would make the endorsement less taxing on my part. I'm not really sure as I must admit I'm not good in dissecting and comparing all these rules and must-dos.

In your opinion, Miss Suzanne, if you're in my case, would you rather skip to other States for your nclex exam app. though your employment agency is in IL, for the sole reason that IL application process is complicated? By the way, IL is not our first option to work into, it's just that it's their "open" or "available" slot that time to engaged in according to our agent. Anyway, it's okay, we're happy for the chance to work there in the future, by God's grace.

I'd appreciate your response, Miss Suzanne. Thanks ahead. And also to you guys who'd care to indulge in my query. Inputs from those who had personal experience in applying for nclex to IL is a great help.
