Any UAB FNP students/grads?!

Hi everyone!

I'm in the process of applying for UAB's FNP program and after researching further and learning of the competitiveness of the FNP program I am getting a bit nervous about my GPA! I have an overall GPA of 3.23 (darn college years), but have a strong resume & references. For those of you who have gotten into or graduated from the program, what was your GPA (if you don't mind me asking)? Thanks for your help!

Good luck to you, too! I wish we didn't have to wait so long to find out. I feel like I've been on this roller coaster for wayyy too long.

Most of the lectures are through Collaborate, which are recorded and can be accessed any time after. As far as books Pathphysiology by McCance, Pharmacology by Lehne, Bates' Physical exam by Bickley.

From what I have heard, taking the GRE can only improve your chances I think, even if you can waive it. I took it because I had a low GPA. And this is graduate education, so you should be able to communicate with some understanding of APA writing.

I am a FNP alum of UAB. I got my BSN in 2009 and then my MSN in 2011. The program is great (I start my DNP in May 2014) but you definitely have to be a self starter as the program is mostly online only. This means reading, listening to the lectures, posting discussion topics and responding to other students' posting. The program is ranked nationally, is highly competitive, but worth it. I felt ready for being a FNP day one of independent practice!!

My GPA was 3.99, attended as a RN-BSN with a MSN option. Got in immediately after BSN diploma (3.68) graduated 6 semesters later. Now going back for my DNP (GPA 3.88).....(I have LOST my mind)

Specializes in CVICU.

I have applied for UAB Fall 2014 with my first choice as Acute Care Adult/Gero NP...does anyone have any idea how long it actually takes for them to start sending out letters? Starting to get nervous now!

According to this thread, they won't be sending out decisions until the end of May! :(
