First of all, thank you so much for taking the time to read my post. I have been following this website almost on a daily basis for many years, yet I never asked questions, I guess I'm a little shy.
I've been contemplating for a few years to relocate to NYC and I would like to ask you all if the facility you work at or you heard of, hires RNs with 1 year experience. I know the market is saturated in big cities and is hard to get in a place unless you know somebody there, however I haven't lost hope.
To give additional info about myself, I work in the ICU with frequent floats to Open Heart. I worked for this hospital for about 4 years, of which 3 have been as an EKG tech, I plan on testing for CCRN certification next month, I have extensive community service involvement (5+ years) for a clinic that serves the uninsured. I have great work ethic and I am a great team player.
I guess I am just nervous starting my application process in such a big city with so many RNs and so many nursing schools.
Hello! I think you have a good shot at landing an RN position. You also have your BSN, which is a huge plus. The only issue I think would be the time required for you to actively apply to all these NYC hospitals and be readily available to go to interviews. Good luck!
