Hi, Future Yale Peds Nurses:
Just to follow-up:
Not long at all after I posted this, I was selected for a phone screen for the Critical Care Nurse Residency at Mayo Clinic. I ended up passing that, was selected to interview, and I'm sitting next to my phone waiting (hopefully) for a call today with good news. I decided to follow my heart in placing all of my energy and focus into the ICU at Mayo because it's my dream, but I am rooting for you guys and I'll be following your journey from the sidelines! Keep your fingers crossed for me too! LOL ?
Best of luck, my friends. You/We got this.

Hi! Per the recruiters I spoke to, every new grad nurse is hired into the residency program. You can apply directly to job postings for residency programs or any clinical nurse (staff nurse) job posting that does not require experience. Some of the specialty residency programs are hired in cohorts, they hire a group of nurses and they all start the residency program at the same time. The rest of the positions hire all year long, you'll just start the residency program with other new grad nurses from other units that were hired around the same time you were.
FYI some of my applications I submitted before I graduated were rejected but as soon as I checked the "graduated" box in my profile, the application was reopened and I got a call the next day. After my application was reopened the process took about a month.
Good Luck!

Just kind of curious to see who's going for it, or if anyone has deets.
I'm a new new grad from Modesto, CA about to start and submit my application today...
I'm not gonna lie, I'll be praying hard for this one.
Fingers crossed, and good luck to all,
Andrew
