Yale hospitals-can one be competitive as an ADN or should I complete an RN-BSN?

We're considering a move to New Haven. Currently I hold a BS degree, will have an ADN, and 1+yr of experiance (Lord willing) when we move. I could complete an RN-BSN program through my local State University on-line before we move; but it would cost me approximaltely 8K even after tuition reimbursement and lots of time I would rather spend with my family after 2 years of nursing school. I do plan on continueing on to an MSN, but most programs I am considering do NOT require a BSN for an RN with aprevious Bachelor's degree....so.....

Is it worth it to complete the RN-BSN solely to make myself more competitive in New Haven?

Thanks for the input! I'm hopeful that this is a no brainer, but ready to do whatever I need to do since I will be the sole breadwinner while DH is in Grad School.

Any hospital on the Magnet journey gives preference to BSNs. So, if you have your heart set on Yale, then I would say it is a worthwhile endeavor. If you do not want to do that, there are plenty of other hospitals in the area that provide excellent care.

I realize that I could have titled my post better. I'm not set on Yale in any way.

I have looked over St. Raphaels. What are the others that are local?

The nice thing about CT is that it is not terribly difficult to get around. Middlesex Hospital and the hospitals in Hartford are doable from the New Haven area depending which town you settle in. If you are interested in LT rehab, Gaylord is a possibility. The VA in Rocky Hill or West Haven are there as well. There is also hospice nearby if that is an interest.
