Hello,
Can anyone shed any light on the Yakima area? Staffing ratios? Pay? General quality of life? I called Yakima Valley Memorial and the HR person was only able to say that staffing ratios "depend on the house." Any info would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks!!

Hey there,
I don't know about Memorial but I know about Regional. Regional's ratios are fairly appropriate 1:4-5 for tele which is where I worked. It gets busy and is not the greatest hospital in WA by any means, it does OK. Memorial has an good rep with the public there in Yakima but I travelers have said that not one is better than the other.
I moved to Yakima last year to get away from the hustle-bustle of the Seattle area. BIG mistake. I was a victim of crime three times and met some very shady people. The job was great but it was outside where I ran into problems. The police say they are two types of people in Yakima: "Really good, and really bad." Yakima has the highest crime rate in WA and connections to Mexican cartels.
I do like some aspects. The scenery is nice, especially in the summer. The weather is fantastic. If you like wine, you are near some great wineries. Lots of recreation.
I personally will never live there again, but some people like it.
Thank you so much for the reply. That was exactly what I needed to hear!
