Yeah so I applied to NCC yet again ..I have a 3.4 with 35 curriculum credits focused towards nursing. I have an even amount of A's and B's just one C had to go screw up the whole thing, and thats in AP II
Frustrated? Yes. B/c there was an older man in one of my classes last year who had 3 classes under his belt, with a perfect 4.0
So you mean to tell me, if I had applied with only 3 classes and had a perfect score I wouldve been accepted right away?
Im going to take the NLN and try my luck at other schools LICHSON and whatever deadline I can meet between this week and next.
Heres the kicker, I work in an E.R. and I have these nurses from other countries (that work on different floors of course but take report from the e.r. nurses) and I can say, with confidence, I have more knowledge in my pinky than they do in their whole nursing career.
Maybe nursing isnt for me? I do enjoy helping patients, being at bedside and what not.
Sorry had to vent, Im sure there are a lottttttttt of students out there that share the same frustration. I hear ya kiddo.

Hi, I'm so happy someone finally posted about applying to NCC. I too am waiting to find out if I got in and it's pretty nerve racking.
Anyhow, they do not go strictly by GPA. I mean they do, but it's calculated into your rank score. They take your GPA and multiply it by the number of credits you took. So if the guy with a 4.0 took only 3 classes his rank would be 27. If you took 35 credits with a 3.5 GPA your rank would be 122.5. Also, they add extra points if you live in Nassau and if you took at least 15 credits at NCC.
I went to an information session last year and they basically said that they would take someone with a lower GPA but most of their classes done before someone with a higher GPA but only the prereqs done.
Based on your GPA I think you have a really good shot, especially for the day program.
Good luck, and hope to see you in school in the fall.
Sorry, apparently I can't do simple multiplication...His rank would be 36. Yours, with the 3.4 would be 119. (I used 3.5 in the original post)

A 3.4 is not that bad. I agree that you should not just limit yourself to only schools in the LI area? When i was applying, I sent out applications every where, queensborough, Laguardia, Beth Israel..etc..etc. My thought was that I wanted this bad enough that whereever accepted me, as long as it was an accreditied progam, I would make the necessary adjustment to attend. Don't give up if you don't get in. There are other routes. Good luck, DK
I would just like to say, I love you guys. You really made me feel better, as for the ranking score goes then I am amazed that the old man pulled it off. He would make a great nurse, all my jealousy aside..I was proud of him
It is what it is, LICHSON hasnt been getting good reviews, if you guys dont get in let me know. Within my research, I noticed A LOT of schools where only 150 apply 30 get in..versus 1700 in NCC and 150 or so seats
Oh yeah and did I mention thank you?
