Given your experience, would you recommend Army nursing for a new BSN grad? Why or why not? Does the Army offer new grads quality training? Thanks.

I would recommend talking to all the branches of the serivce and getting a good understanding of which branch will offer the best package before committing to anything.Nurses I have worked with have told me that Nursing in the Airforce is great. I am not in the military, so I do not have an opinion. Good luck getting the information you need.

I don't have specific experience as a nurse, but as an air force spouse, and a daughter in law of an Army guy, and having lived on a Navy base with my husband, Air Force is the way to go as far as a generic look at the branches of the military. My dh works with former army guys who were rangers and came over to Air force spec ops because of the better lifestyle and working conditions.
Of course, you should talk to all of them because you might find a better offer from one than the other.

Absolutely I would recommend the army, air force, or navy for great experience, chances to advance, educational opportunities, it's a good deal!
I have been army for the past 6 years, am switching over to AF for quality of life (i.e., assignment location) reasons. I've also worked with a few navy nurses, and recommend the military nursing system to anyone.

My father was a AMMEDD recruiter for the Army and I'm a senior nursing student going in myself through ROTC. Although you won't get paid as much as a civilain nurse initially. Once you make captain you'll be making more than them. Plus there is housing and allowances that the Army gives. YOu can get them to eventually pay for school and travel the world. Plus you're serving your country. I'm excited to see how it will all go myself.

From my understanding, our promotions are better than the AF, don't know about the Navy.I have had great assignments and had my grad school paid for, (tuition and books) and recieved full salary while in school. Not a bad deal! You have to be in for about 4 years before they will do that for you...Make sure your kid gets a contract that promises a specilaty school within the first 2 years, a bonus, and assignment of choice.
