I am about to start an LPN program but want to get my RN then NP one day. I am wondering, would it be possible to be an NP that works primarily in a clinical setting but does research on the side?

Hi JP_403,
Since a nurse practitioner is prepared at a graduate-level education, they can be involved in research initiatives. I will be starting NP school in the fall, but have worked with many NPs who have do mostly clinical hours, but also have time in their schedule for research and professional development activities as required by their job description. This would differ between different employers and the NPs skill set.
