I am extremely undecided on what I want pick as a career in life and in college, but I've thought about nursing since it seems like a "job you can find anywhere."
So like what characteristics should I have if I know nursing is for me?
I know that's very vague to ask, but I need some pointers here...

Is there place where you can take assessment tests. The community college I go to actually has a career advisory center that is open and free to the community. They give you a bunch of tests and then go through them with you, helping you decide what might be best. The tests measure certain personality traits, ways that you like to work, etc. You might try to find a place like this.

While it's true that there are many jobs available to nurses, (especially in this economy) it's hard to survive and be happy in nursing unless you have a desire to help people. You end up putting up with a lot of management garbage, but if you are motivated to learn, committed to enduring a few years of tough nursing school, and have a desire to make a difference helping people, then maybe you should consider nursing. I'm sure others will be able to add to my thoughts....
Best of luck!

Do you know any nurses personally? Invite them out for coffee some day and talk to them. Allnurses is a great resource as well. Just keep in mind that many post here to vent, rather than to just say they had another good day.
