Does anyone know how one would go about finding a live-in private duty nursing job? I would love to move South and I really enjoy working with elders and I thought this would be a good solution to both. Any ideas?

Look for ads and place an ad in craigslist and other bulletin board type entities. Place flyers in places where seniors frequent, such as churches, doctor's offices, hospital liaisons, senior centers. Place an ad in the local newspaper.

In addition to the replies above, check with the local VNAs in the locations
you are interested in. They sometimes know of a family who is in need
of a live in private duty nurse.
Good luck!
What is a VNA Jahra? Thanks for the advice guys. I have been checking Craigslist but they seem to only need PCA's so far...
VNA = Visiting Nurse Association. Any home health agency may be able to help you with referrals. Most home care is only at the HHA level, so finding an RN level private duty case may not be easy. Private duty clients may want an RN for their knowledge and skill level, but they will be more willing to pay HHA wages or very little more. That is the nature of home care.
In some areas there are situations where the family has the financial
means to hire an RN or RNs directly. Some of these situations are
found from a MD referral or after the VNA service to the client has terminated.

This won't be directly helpful, but it's interesting anecdotally. Many years ago, long before I was a nurse myself, I lived in Santa Barbara - very wealthy area in general - and worked in a bicycle shop that specialized in pretty high performance, expensive bikes. Our very best customer was an RN who did private duty live-in at the big mansions in Montecito. His clients - mostly very elderly women with relatively non-technical needs - were seriously wealthy and could pay very well indeed. His assignments often lasted quite a while and his patients not only paid well but often left nice sums in their wills. He had a collection of really nice bicycles. Since it was before my nursing days, I never tried to find out how he found his clients. Incidentally, I know of another nurse whose job is as crew on a yacht. The owner is busy making still more money, so rarely visits. Maybe 2-4 weeks a year. The rest of the time, the crew hangs out in places like Monaco, Nice, Tahiti - wherever the owner thinks he might want to come when he has time. The rich are living in a very different world from the rest of us. But with a little smarts and enterprise, I think it's possible to break into the fringes of that world and enjoy some of its comforts. I'd do some creative on-line searching trying different combinations of terms to find agencies that supply what you want to do.
