Worried about TEAS?!

Nursing Students TEAS

Hello everyone! I am new to this site and I hope I can get some help.

Right now, I am doing my pre-reqs and have 1 year left. I have a 4.0 GPA still and hope to keep it that way, but I heard about the TEAS test and was wondering if anyone had some tips about it? I feel a lot of pressure on me in the family as our financial situation can also get a little better and I am our one hope in the family.

I have never been worried about timed tests but I'm now worrying that I will do bad and choke on the TEAS because I read a horror story for someone else and it cannot get out of my head! The cut score is 62% for my community college, but I plan to do bridge program to attend a Calstate for my bachelors and I think that the Calstates take in your highest TEAS score meaning I can take it as many times as I want?

I imagine a timer going off and me feeling pressured every time I imagine myself taking the TEAS and I've always been a great test-taker. Maybe my adrenaline will push me through it and I will not realize it just like every last time? Any tips? Thank you!

No need to panic. There is a plethora of information and study tips on the Internet (for FREE) that could benefit you immensely. If you study regularly for your prerequisite courses (which I'm assuming you do considering the 4.0) you will do fine. If you can, try to take a practice test (there are plenty online). Just be aware that the ATI is administering a NEW TEAS exam sometime in August (August 14th, I think) so make sure you look into that; schools may require you to submit a score from the newer TEAS. If you study diligently, time will not be a constraint for you. KhanAcademy, YouTube, ATI, and Google are you friends. :) basically, utilize the Internet as often as you can, because the majority of the time it is free and easy to use! Hope this helps.

I scored an 85.3% on the TEAS-V, advanced placement.

Thank you! :) Every little thing is going to be alright! I always worried about tests like this as a child but always ended up doing great. I'm sure this is one of those stages, but time will pass and I will make my parents proud! :)

Hi there,

No need to panic. If you already have a 4.0 GPA you should easily be able to get a 62% or higher on your TEAS. I tend to test well but I also get very anxious. I used the ATI practice book and read it cover to cover and bought the online tests. You are given 2 chances per online test and there are paper tests in the back on the book (so essentially 6 total tests). I also used the McGraw-Hill practice test book and found it reasonably helpful. I gave myself about 6 weeks of intermittent study time before my test. I ended up taking it twice and got an 86% the first time and a 95% the second time. I would look into how many times the CSU schools will allow you to retest. I applied for the Bay Area schools and some of them only allow up to 3 retests. I was accepted at 3/5 of the schools I applied to and waitlisted at 2. Hope this helps!
