Hey guys,
I am currently a nursing student in the University of South Florida's BSN second degree nursing program. I am about to enter my second semester in the program and have started thinking about getting a job as a tech while in the program. I am already aware that I will not be able to do so for the second semester because of how much is going on but I'd like to hear from other people about their experience of working while in a full time nursing program. I'd like to become a tech hopefully by the third semester (the program is only 4 semester long so it's a very rigorous program).
Thanks!
I worked as a PCT for almost 10 yrs. continued my full time status while completely a 2 year ADN program. I have two kids and a husband that helped out a lot. Is it possible? Yes. is it hard? Yes. But I managed and even graduated with honors. A tech in the same ADN program but a year ahead of me started working as a PRN PCT and did so while completing her 2nd year. She and I both where offered positions in our "home units"

That is great. I believe it is possible I can not figure out how to arrange everything. I NEED to work 3 12hrs shift to remain ft. I work 6:30a to 6:30P. I will attend school Monday through Friday from 8 until 4 this is what I was told in orientation. I have been told by others that I may only go four days instead of five. If that is the case that would leave me to go to nights. Which I can not since my husband is taking on another job which will have him working nights three days out of the week. We only have one car. My kids are attend k4 and kindergarten. I am working three days up until the week school start. I'm asking to drop part time if it is open. IF it is not open I will have to work the other 12 hrs on night shift which means some one will have to keep kids that day and take to school. I Have have family that are willing to support. I want to know how did it work out for others. My husband will be working ft and pt the the kids have school. I have work and school. How would you map this out or would you just drop to flexi with no benefits. Remain ft and work one day during the week on nights then leave work and head right to school to begin class right at 8am. After dropping kids off except days working over. Picking husband up and dropping him off. List the how it worked out for you. I'm trying to get a system so far pt is looking really good to me. Why ? Well it would leave me the week to take my husband to work and pick him up after my classes. Take kids to school pick them up. BY the way myself or my husband or family will help with picking up kids from school. How did this work please send me and example as I am trying to plan ahead now. Two weeks before school start trying to setup everything now. Thanks
