Working Part-time as a New LPN?

Published

I have 10 weeks left of my PN program. My plan had been to only work part-time for the next few years. My husband works 70-80 hours a week and I want to be able to be home with the kiddos (3 and 6) some of the time. What would be the best option for me job wise. In my area there are lots of LTC, Assisted living, Sub acute, Home health and Drs clinics that hire LPNs. Our local hospitals not so much.

My plan is to also take the few classes I have left for an LPN to RN transition program. I had planned to apply for that in 4-5 yrs. Working part-time only until becoming an RN. Any advice etc would be great :redpinkhe

Hi,

Depending on your area it is often possible to find a part-time or per diem job but be prepared to have a full time orientation week or two. Good luck!

It all depends on if you can afford to work full time or if you'd need a babysitter. I personaly would work full time, but my kids are older 9 & 14. It just depends on how much experience you want to have under your belt prior to getting into the RN role.
