Can someone possibly point me to a good, concise reference online, for caring for patients with renal failure? The unit that I'm now working on is a general medical unit with MANY renal failure patients, I'm finding out. Most of my med/surge experience has been working with general surgical and orthopedic patients. I've also done general medical in the past but.... well I still feel clueless most of the time when it comes to those darn kidneys. What medications to keep away from these patients, and why. What electrolyte levels I'm most likely to see and how to correct the imbalances.
I can't find my darn _Lippincott Manual of Nursing Practice_ anywhere.

Try ANNA. their web site is ANNA.org they have a core curriculum that discusses the care of the pre renal patient thru the patient with end stage renal disease. Great resource
