I realize that there are currently various threads out there regarding nursing in Australia as a US RN. After reading the posts I feel like I understand the relicensure/Visa process, yet I would like some input on jobs. I am a fairly recent graduate with 6 months experience as a pain management RN at an orthopedic surgery center in Chicago. Once I have about a year experience as well as my BSN (which I am currently working on through an RN-BSN program), I will be interested in taking the steps to apply for a working holiday visa and hopefully land a 3-6 month contract. My question is whether there are any RN's out there who did not have hospital/acute experience and were able to land a temporary contract in Australia whether it was at a hospital or any other facility. My goal is to target Sydney area since I have someone to stay with there and would not need to arrange for accommodation. My intention is not to gain sponsorship or extend my visa, but rather to experience a new country while working at the same time. I appreciate any responses or advice ! Thank You!
