Working as a GPN

I am only months away from graduating my PN program and I was looking into working as a GPN. I was just curious if your scope of practice would be any different than an LPN or if you would have to be supervised since you don't have your license. Would you be allowed to pass narcs? My job is offering me to work as a GPN but they said if I am not licensed in 90 days they have to let me go regardless of the fact I've been a CNA there for 2 years. Makes me curious if it's worth it, I don't want to lose my seniority at work. Feel free to add thoughts/opinions/personal experiences. Thanks a ton!

    I don't know about how that works but I think you should wait till you pass your nclex because that would be stressful. I'd just ask if I could come in some days and shadow some nurses a few hours so you'll know what to expect instead of risking being let go in 90 days for not getting your license. Good luck

    I recently graduated Feb. 24 and I haven't started working as a GPN yet. Only because I want time to study for the nclex and relax. My job wants me to work as a GPN. The only thing about that is I have to have a date scheduled already to take the nclex. If I don't pass the nclex I wouldn't be fired from my job I would just have to work as a cna until I pass boards. My job hires GPNS they just want you to take your test sooner than later. Hope this answers your question. But I will say that you should do what's best for you. Personally I'm not so concerned about working as a GPN, I'm more concerned about studying for the nclex and passing instead of making a couple bucks.
