Working in dialysis while you are pregnant

Just wonder if being pregnant while you work in dialysis unit is a good idea or not. I'm just worry with the chemicals we use for cleaning : renalin, bleach, and acid. We do on calls too, so pushing the machine is another thing to think about.

Chemical safety should be addressed in the MSDS for each chemical - proper handling and PPE is not just for show, it is there to protect you (and baby!). I would talk to the Doctor if you are worried about the pushing, remember women, who has it much more physically challenging than we do these days have been having healthy pregnancies for years. Bless both of you.

Your OB would be the person that you address your concerns to about this. No one here is allowed to give medical advice per the terms of service for this website. I can tell you that we had three pregnant women in our dialysis unit..all with happy healthy babies.

Please speak to your OB to put your mind at ease.
