Working at Bon Secours

i probably won't be of too much help, but i have lived here (richmond) all my life and am very familiar with bon secours.

i actually just applied for a nursing position with them and am hoping to hear back today if i got it!

but the person who interviewed me was with HR and relocated here for the job from orlando, fl. .and has been here for 4 years .. . if that gives you any indication of how much she likes it.

she went over the benefits with me and everything seemed very nice, well put together, professional, etc.

they have a good reputation and i believe just attained magnet status.

definitely a place to consider moving for .. :)

i work for bon secours and have been for only nine months so far it is really working wonderfully for me. i am a nurse but not in the hospitals. i love that there is SO much flexiblity with the schedules and the ease of tranfering (if i wanted to). i am planning to move to chicago and will truly miss working for this company when i leave. the only bad thing that i have found is they will not pay for birth control or anything of that nature regardless of the medical need but that is the only bad thing i have to say about them and i can live with that. but good luck!

i applied for a position that is not in the hospital. do you work at one of the assisted living facilities or w/ a bon secours doctor's ofc?

i applied for a PT position as an LPN at iron bridge assisted living in chester. any comments?

OMG! that is where i work they just hired a new pt/prn lpn for the 11-7 shift what shift did you apply for? you also have alot of experience what made you want the alf? i would think you would make more outside of the alf

awesome!

i applied for the 3-11 shift i THINK, at least that's what the job position was listed for when i applied. it's for a PT LPN position there.

did they hire someone else too for the 11-7 shift because i let them know i can't do that d/t school.

i'm starting an LPN to RN program at southside regional tomorrow and so i needed a job where i could work PT, go to school and still have benefits. i've never done assisted living, so i'm looking forward to it. :)

do you like working there? what shift do you work?

can't wait to meet you and everyone!

:hpygrp:the 3-11 shift is probably the shift we do have one open. since you are going to school i totally would say COME ON DOWN! where are you moving from by the way and when do you start? everyone here is in school for something here is a break down: 2lpn,3 rn one is grad. and will be leaving in a month or so,health care administration (me), radiology, and a pharm. so come one and join us! i do like working here i do get tired of going in but thats just because i do miss working in the nursing homes. i am the lead 3-11 nurse so you will train with me then on the floor with one of the other nurses that i have. we do have a good time on our shift for the most part. i dont know what they are paying you but i took a pay cut to come here i started off p/t and while i worked full time at a nursing home. but the pay cut was well worth it the nursing home i was at was terrible (i could just see my license being burned and for stuff i had no control over! i had to leave) but on another note we have so much flexability with our schedules at this faciliy they dont really care how much you work as long as you met the required time you wont hear from them. if there is overtime just signup and please please show up lol that is the only problem we have with that people wait til the last min.(the day of) to say "oh umm im not going to be to make that...":banghead: drives me crazy but when you start OMG im so excited! I wont have that problem :bowingpur. but i mean its not all peaches here but it is not stressful at all and its not as bad as any of the places i have worked. i mean we have our LITTLE things most of which are petty and i just ignore em like the schedule thing and keep on moving (after a nice cold pepsi) and what place doesnt have something you know? there is overtime here i just dont do a lot of it because taxes eat most of it so to me its not worth it im thinking of doing some agency. but thats just me i have ALWAYS had 2 jobs i get bored and why be bored when you can make money i always say lol. sorry for the rant but i do that. but honestly welcome to the team! hope to meet you soon!:dancgrp:

thanks so much for all of the feedback! sounds like a great place to work! i'm excited! i better be the 3-11 shift (or i can do the 7-3) because of the school thing.

i'm not sure when i exactly start. i hope to learn that tomorrow and find out if i take a pay cut or not. i'm thinking i won't since i am an LPN who has always worked at a hospital and i know that ALF's and LTC facilities pay wayyy better. i've always made total crap compared to everyone who workes w/ LTC or assisted living.

anyhow, it sounds like a great environment for people who are in school and i like that flexibility is accepted! phew! i'm also glad that i've "met" my preceptor already! haha! you're also the first person i've ever "met" who i know posts on here. awesome!

thanks again for being so outgoing and welcoming to my new place of employment! can't wait to meet you and everyone! sounds great!!!!! :)
