working beyond md reststrictions

Hi I recently returned to work  after having foot surgery.   I work in acute care.   I am back at work with short shift restrictions and half time hours for 4 weeks.  This is my 2nd week back and I have already gone beyond my restrictions my 1st and 2nd week by a few hours about 4 over my ordered parameter. So like all areas today my unit is extremely short staffed.  My supervisor asked me to work new years  day and I already am passed my hours.  Can they legally do this?  So if they ask me can they ask nurses out with positive covid to come in because they are short?   What gives?  I have a restriction for a reasonl.  Thanks
