Working in Assisted Living Land
(to the tune of Annie Lenox’s version of Winter wonderland * notes Annie's fun additions)
In my unit with their mantles all white,
My resident’s are sleeping, and sleeping so tight.
Calmness and naptime despite all the chill of the weather!
They know no season, they know no cline,
They aren’t even oriented to date or time.
But somehow they know, that is time for that holiday season!
Call bells ring, are ya listen.
Down the hall…some ones missin’.
Bed alarms sound, as we run around…
Working in an assisted living land!
Gone away is the Vioxx.
Here to stay, is more pills in the narc box.
We want to go play, but here’s where we stay,
Working in assisted living land.
In the dinning room we will feed our residents.
And pretend that we know what food that is…
We’ll have lots of fun with cleaning faces,
And having them drink a cleansing Efferdent fizz…
Later on, we will perspire.
As we extinguish that toaster fire.
It happens each day, dodging walkers all the way.
*Scrub dub dub dub in the tub,
Wipe from front to back, wipe from front to back yeah
Oh yeah
Now our Hoyer Lift is totally broken,
We will have to transfer them all by hand.
Asking for assistance gets you no where,
So home we go with bad backs, and can not stand!
More alarms on, ain’t it thrillin.
Though you know they are a chillin’.
To face unafraid, that BM in your way.
*Let those call bells ring…
Working in assisted living land
*Tell them who it is…
*Yeah Yeah, feeding time feeding time oh yeah yeah yeah…
*One more time for the deaf ones…
Working in assisted living land!
*Christmas time working hard with the old folks now…
Happy Holidays! :)
