hello,

my name is amanda i am an lpn student set to finish in june i live in new jersey so i dont know in which way or how much it varies from states but i am very very interested in the psych nursing, though we have not actually had that subject yet we do that part in the last section of our schooling.i am thinking when i finish school and get my license that i am going to try to get employed at a psych rehabilitation center, if anyone is in this area i would just like to know what you think of it how you like it or any information really. also a friend of mine told me that there is something called a psych takedown certificate and suggested that if i want to specialize in psych nursing i should consider looking into it,so if anyone knows of something like this can you please just relay some information about it

Specializes in Leadership, Psych, HomeCare, Amb. Care.

Haven't a clue what a takedown certificate is. A take down is the last of multiple steps that is used only when other interventions fail.

I'd be much more interested in someone who has taken CPI, or an equivalent deescalation.

Go to crisisprevention.com, or search utube under patient deescalation

If you can describe the signs of an escalating patient, and what steps your team can take to deescalate, you are ahead of the game
