We're in the same boat--I'm a former teacher as well trying to get into a RN program. I'm taking pre-req's at NCC as a nonmatriculated student. I heard from people who are actually nursing students at NCC that it's very competitve to get in, but QCC might actually be even more competitve to get into for some reason. I believe if you have over a 3.7 and A's/B's in your pre-req's you'd have a decent shot, but NCC can afford to be picky because they get over a 1,000 applications per semester. You might get lucky. It's alittle easier getting into the private, and more expensive, colleges.

I applied twice and was rejected twice. Finally they found me a seat. Theres an information session coming up May 5th at 11 get there about 10:30ish b/c they only allow the first 40 people. I think once you have a certain number of credits (geared towards the RN program), and a high GPA youre golden.
I had a 3.4 with 38 credits towards the nursing program, all I have left is Clinicals (taking micro now)
If you dont get in the first time, keep re applying, you can do it!

It is very difficult. I know at least two or three people who had 3.7 GPAs or HIGHER that were not accepted for this upcoming fall semester. They get over 1000 applicants and take around 150 for fall and less for spring (spring class is maybe 40-50 seats). Keep your GPA up, keep earning credits, and keep applying.
I was accepted for fall 2007 with a 3.83 GPA over 65 college credits. I had A's in all the co-req classes (A&P1, ENG101, Math & PSY203)
