Women's Health Nursing... What to do?!

Nurses General Nursing

Hello

I have been working as a RN for 2.5 years with experience in Adult Med/Surg, Peds ICU and Skilled nursing. I have always loved women's health since nursing school but have never been given the opportunity to explore my passion. I want to go back to school to become a nurse midwife/FNP but before doing so, I want to gain experience in women's health.. The problem is, most women's health centers will only hire nurses with experience....WHAT DO I DO?!

Should I start applying to nurse midwife programs without the experience in women's health? or Should I continue to seek out opportunities to gain experience in women's health..if so,where? L&D, Mother-baby, Primary care, Reproductive medicine?

Any advice on how to start this journey..

Please and thank you

I got hired in a large OBGYN practice with no experience. In NY.

Give it a shot if you have a good rep as a fly by the seat of your pants RN and a quick learner.

Thank you!!! Were you a new grad when you got hired or did you already have experience under your belt?
