Womens Health Nurse Practitioner

Published

I work in long term care and a new Nurse Practitioner just started, she is a Womens health nurse practitioner. I am confused as how she is able to work in LTC, I did flat out ask if she had dual certificates and she only has the one.

Soooo, I am asking because I like her as a person but I feel a little....well I don't exactly know "what" I feel, anyway, what is your opinion on a Nurse Practitioner who went to school and graduated in Womens Health working in long term care.

Thanks!

What does she do there? From what I know, as a NP your should only practice in what you went to school for. A women's health NP has only been educated in women's health I believe. All NPs are able to do a head to toe assessment on

Men and women, so if she is only doing assessments I don't think there is a problem, but she most likely unable to prescribe since aWHNP does not study all scopes of medications to my understanding. Not 100 percent sure, but this is what I think.
