HI there!
I'm deciding between going back to school for my WHNP or CNM. Any WHNP can share insights on your job and why you decided not to go the CNM route?
Do WHNP work with reproductive cancers? Can CNMS do that as well?
Also, if anyone attended Frontier ' s or SUNY DOWNSTATE'S WHNP program, would you be able to give some feedback?
Any help is appreciated!
Thanks!

Generally, no. WHNPs and CNMs do pap screening. But if a woman is diagnosed with cancer, she will see a OB/Gyn and/or an oncologist. There are gyn-onc subspecialists as well.
Everything a WHNP can do, a CNM can do as well. Plus, CNMs manage labor/catch babies (WHNPs do not).
Thanks so much! For some reason, I thought whnp would cover more gyn care than cnm, which is more ob. Thanks for clarifying!
Totally depends on where you work. Our clinic is about 50% gyn, 50% OB. Our sister clinic is about 70% OB. Our clinic just staffs CNMs. The other clinic also staffs a WHNP, but she just sees the Gyn patients and the CNMs see both Gyn and OB.
