I am wondering if the Continence portion of the WOCN certification is necessary. I heard that the continence portion isn't used as much by these nurses. Anyone able to shine some light on this subject? I know being a WOCN is the gold standard but I wonder if being a WON is a close silver finish?
Thanks!

Most nurses I know dropped their continence cert after they had to recertify the first time. The WOCNCB just means that their certs are the gold standard, not that you have to have tri specialty.

I know this is super old but I actually was wondering this. I currently work in med surg/tele but may be transitioning to wound care role at current hospital. I initially was interested in eventually pursuing all 3 specialties but I was wondering if I will ever even use continence especially in an acute care setting? Is Continence even useful in most settings outside urology?
