The head nurse was nearing retirement, she had seen just about
everything come through the hospital's labor and delivery unit and
always remained calm and unruffled. A sixteen-year-old in labor was
having a lot of pain, writhing on the bed, fighting her contractions,
swearing, and refusing to consider epidural analgesia. Streams of
obscenities erupted from her room and the girl yelled F**K right into
the nurse's face.
With absolute calm, the nurse patted the girl's arm and said, "You've
already done that part. Now it's time to have the baby."

Oh my! LOL...my best friend was having her daughter and I was just a 1st year student nurse...she did the same thing..I said the same thing! LOL!!!!!!! (except I exploded in laughter, which she didn't appreciate since she was mid contraction! LOL!).
A funny aside, yesterday I was waiting for my hubby in his CME (he is paramedic) and the teachers was educating new EMT's about childbirth. Now one was a young man, two were very young women with no children. After birth, and clamp, placental birth...he asked what to do next. They were baffled...and he said "fundal massage".
They were so perplexed, but the one being tested said..."how hard, well that doesn't matter, the baby is out...shouldn't hurt should it".
Okay, I was not the only mother in the room! LOL! All of us ladies said "UMMMMM YES IT DOES!!!"
For some reason, me being the nurse in the room with L/D experience wound up talking to the students explaining it all to them..LOL! "Yes it hurts, you will be yelled at...but it is necessary, and you must know what to tell your patient so they don't cuss you out so much! LOL!"....
Later the young female student came to me and said..."well...sorry I didn't know...I have never been pregnant"...she was actually ticked at me for teaching! I looked at her and said..."naaaaaa in your case it won't hurt...let the nurses in L/D massage hard and get back to me! LOL!" (the paramedic teacher busted up laughing!).
